Antara, meaning “opportunity” in Sanskrit, was founded in 2018 by CIO Himanshu Gulati. Antara combines a fundamental approach with active trading and dynamic asset allocation to invest throughout the capital structure.

About Us

We invest across a wide variety of financial instruments, including: loans, bonds, convertible bonds, stressed/distressed credit and special situation equity investments.  Through our long, shared history, the senior team has developed a regimented and collaborative investment culture that is foundational to Antara. Antara is a minority-owned firm with a strong culture of alignment and partnership across senior leadership.

Antara has a tried and tested strategy that extends beyond the traditional approach to credit and equity investing by being active at two levels: position-level trade structuring and portfolio-level trading.

Utilize single-name credit shorts and hedging

Seek alpha shorts and utilize trade structuring and hedging to mitigate risk

Balance active trading with stringent risk management

Flagship Strategy

Antara utilizes a fundamental approach to event-driven opportunities across the capital structure. We seek to deliver equity-like returns with credit-like downside protection through security selection, trade structuring, active trading, and risk management. The firm invests primarily across the following categories of risk, fluidly adjusting asset allocation as the market and opportunity set change:

  • Loans or bonds that are the subject of catalysts/events and corporate actions that can increase or diminish value
  • Opportunistic financings with equity upside via warrants

  • Convertible bonds that are trading well below their conversion price where there is a disconnect between credit and equity valuation

  • Stressed or distressed loans or bonds that may or may not be subject to a restructuring event
  • Liquidations or other legal/regulatory driven outcomes

  • Equities that are the subject of catalysts/events and corporate actions that can increase or diminish value

  • Shorting individual corporate issuers through bonds or CDS where material spread widening or default is expected
  • Broader portfolio hedges to mitigate the risk of exogenous shocks to the portfolio

Antara seeks to offer investors exposure to the entire lifecycle of SPAC investing. Investments generally range from PIPEs and pre-IPO units to public trading in front-end SPACs and warrant arbitrage strategies. In addition, Antara seeks to also have access to attractive at-risk capital investment opportunities.

Co-investments and Customized Mandates

Antara partners with investors on co-investments as opportunities arise. The Firm also seeks to offer tailored solutions for customized institutional mandates.
